Eames Textile Patterns: A Stationery Collection: 30 Sheets and 30 Envelopes
Published in Stationery by Chronicle Books (April, 2002)
Authors: Charles Eames and Ray Eames
Average review score:

Bought it as a gift & then bought a set for myself
This is a funky set of Eames pattern stationery. I bought this museum gift shop quality set for my brother who had studied industrial design and is familiar with the Eames patterns. When he opened it Christmas morning and we got a closer look at the good size, good quality paper and matching tongued envelopes, I logged on and ordered a set for myself. This is a great set not just for letter writing but for crafts and decor. Although the box appears a little feminine, the patterns are varied and this would make a great gift for anyone, including, er, yourself.

Early Days in the Adirondacks: The Photographs of Seneca Ray Stoddard

Average review score:

Photographic masterpiece
A beautiful collection of pictures which will delight anyone interested in this area of upstate New York. The author has a style that is at once easy to read and engrossing. She is obviously a sophisticated individual and I hope to see more of her in print.

Economics: A Mathematical Introduction
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (February, 1993)
Authors: Ray Rees and C. J. McKenna
Average review score:

More than a good introduction
It's a very good text for those getting into economics and who are looking for a clear and proper use of mathematics. Though it does not cover some of the intermediate topics in economics theory, the ones covered go beyond the introductory requirements making the text more than a simple introduction

El Vino Del Estio/Dandelion Wine
Published in Paperback by Minotauro Ediciones Avd (July, 1995)
Author: Ray Bradbury
Average review score:

One of my favorite books of all time!
Dandelion Wine is a wonderful, nostalgic trip down memory lane. Bradbury brings back those warm childhood summers when all you had to worry about was being home before dark. It is also a coming of age story. A beautiful narrative that describes those first moments when a young boy realizes that he is not immortal, that someday he will die. Bradbury has created one of the most beautiful works I have ever had the fortune to read. I heartily reccomend it to anyone!

The Electric Wilderness
Published in Paperback by San Francisco Pr (December, 1986)
Authors: Joel Ray and Andrew A. Marino
Average review score:

Non-fiction, reads like a novel. Exposes politics of power
This little book does more to expose how huge companies, arm in arm with government, control decisions made about the lives of average citizens than most I have read. The authors submit evidence on how some government level decisions affecting our health and safety are made NOT with our welefare in mind, but are based entirely on the profit motive. In the case of this book it is the mega-giant electric companies who purchased government favors allowing them to build power lines across land occupied by innocent families. Researchers who pointed out the chronic and deadly conditions caused by the electro-magnetic fields were put out of business and their data suppressed.

This is a true story about the researchers' confrontation with the companies and government policy makers. A gut-wrenching account of the victimization of US citizens (researchers, workers, families), this book is an eye opener and a must read for those who have any sort of concern that some government agencies are prostituting themselves to big business.

The subject matter in this book would make a great subject for a blockbuster movie. I am having to buy another copy of the book because my original has fallen apart from handling by so many readers.

Elements of Modern X-ray Physics
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (18 January, 2001)
Authors: Jens Als-Nielsen and Des McMorrow
Average review score:

Contemporary book on X-ray scattering
Before this book came out, the bible of the scientists in the field was either Guinier's or else, Warren's book on X-ray diffraction (both books by Dover). I think Jens Als-Nielsen's book will replace these as far as introduction to the field is concerned, because the other two books (especially warren's black book) are pages of equation after equation. Elements of Modern X-ray Physics, in contrast, is much more readable (it has colors even... wohooo). Also it covers recent techniques suxh as scattering from liquid interfaces that were not covered in previous books. Trade-off is that the book does not cover any crystallography. Author's say in the preface that they feel there are other adequate books on this subject (guinier's book prevails).

Interesting note: Book is written not with conventional text editors but with some type of Tex/LaTex.
